Bergen-Belsen Memorial and Documentation Centre

A few kilometres away from Bergen lies the Bergen-Belsen Memorial which has been reconstructed as the main war-crimes memorial in the federal state of Lower Saxony. Each year, around 300,000 people visit this memorial. The memorial traces the history of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp and serves as a reminder of the crimes committed by the Nazis during the holocaust. For people around the world, the ordeals and suffering of Anne Frank and the diary she wrote are inextricably linked to Bergen-Belsen.
