Bergen was first documented in 1197 and due to its central location was of significance as far as the earlier part of the Middle Ages. The salt works at Sülze favoured the establishment of industries here.
The creation of the military training area in 1935 was a major contributory factor to the economy and infrastructure of the centrally located town of Bergen. The town has been recognised by Celle County Administration (Landkreis Celle) as a focal point for the development of the establishment of new business locations.
Traffic links either via the Federal Route 3 (Bundesstrasse 3) or by the rail network, which is run by the East Hanover Railway Company (Osthannoversche Eisenbahn AG), is very good. Bergen is also favourably located in the centre of Northern Germany as regards traffic facilities. The town itself is transited in a north-south direction by the federal highway.
The junction Soltau-Süd for the Hanover-Hamburg motorway (A7) is approximately 10 minutes driving distance away. These large cities can be reached in a short time.
To the east the B191 offers a good link to the Hamburg-Berlin and the Berlin-Rostock motorways. The Airport at Hanover-Langenhagen is only 45 minutes away.
In the town and its surrounding villages there are designated building projects which offer numerous open plots of land for housing construction. All building plots can be connected to the central sewage systems and domestics water supplies.
Information on connections to water-, electricity and gas supplies can be obtained from Stadtwerke Bergen GmbH, Tel: +49 05051 47910
The development costs (road constructions and lightning, waste-water canalisation, water supply) are extremely favourable in comparison with similarly structured towns and communities.
